The GReAT lab is committed to implementing and promoting a diverse and inclusive research environment where all individuals feel supported in the work they’re conducting. We are striving to ensure that our team’s composition reflects Canadian demographics and societal representation. We strongly believe that a diverse team, where all voices are heard, leads to more creativity, productivity, and success. Diverse composition will also help us to ensure that we identify and conduct research on toxicological problems that impact vulnerable members of our population. A team with diverse perspectives is a must to catalyze transformative change in regulatory toxicology.
Overall, we aim to: 1) provide a healthy, equitable, and inclusive environment, 2) respect individual differences, needs and aspirations, and adapt our training program accordingly, 3) harness a diverse team to improve our science, and 4) improve the status quo by taking deliberate steps to address imbalances in representation within STEM.
The GReAT lab thus seeks to recruit members from diverse backgrounds and groups that have historically been underrepresented in the sciences. We hope to reduce/remove barriers to inclusion and contribute to diversifying the Canadian workforce of regulatory toxicologists. This is a dynamic process and we will continue to work to improve our efforts toward these goals. Please see the ‘opportunities’ tab for more information.
