GReAT Opportunities
We are always on the lookout for GReAT people who are interested in genomics, genetic toxicology and advancing the state of risk assessment.
Grad students: Did you know that there is stipend support and scholarships for doing grad studies at uOtttawa? That's right - you get PAID to do research (I was pleasantly surprised to learn this before I applied to grad school)! There are also various scholarship programs that you can apply to in order to make sure that you have enough funding to support yourself. Grad students can obtain degrees in Biology, but I am also a member of the Joint uOttawa-Carleton Chemical and Environmental Toxicology Program and the Bioinformatics Program, so you can specialize as well. Please check out the links for more information
Post-docs: Stay tuned. I have an application for funding that I'm waiting to hear about. You may have a home here!
Although uOttawa is a bilingual institution (French and English), knowledge of French is not required to work in my lab, nor is it necessary for full participation in all aspects of the graduate program or postdoctoral research.`
I would add that Ottawa is an incredible place to live. Canada's capital city has our national museums, numerous exciting annual festivals (including Winterlude on our own World Heritage Site - the Rideau Canal), 100's of km of hiking and biking trails around Ottawa and just over the river in Gatineau, and many ski hills within a 30 minute drive.
